Thank you for doing this, Joe. The results are informative, and you're right, the Democratic party needs serious reform. One of the main concerns I took away from these statistics is that 80 percent of your respondents were over sixty. That means a core challenge is reaching young voters. I'd like to hear your thoughts on how we go about doing that.

I wish younger people weighed in. 18–44 — was only 8%. I wonder how they would have changed results.

It's a huge mistake to prematurely focus on which person will beat the republicans. It can become a self fulfilling prophecy. Early polls always skew heavily on name recognition. This happened with Biden. Media headlines declared Biden the most likely to beat Trump - months before voters had exposure to other candidates. Several friends jumped on supporting Biden only because of this declaration. Buttigieg is very well known and liked, but there are other folks like Ossoff, Pritzker and Khana who warrant consideration and may have broader appeal.

Thanks for pursuing this conversation.

Your poll is skewed- too Southern and too old.

Thank you for your poll and summary analysis. I bought and read your book. Previously, while living in Beaufort, SC I campaigned and voted for you, helping you win the seat held for 40 years by a Republican. I believe your participation in Congress was a win for everyone. I am sorry that it appears Nancy may have contributed to the lack of support you received there in a subsequent campaign. I am enjoying your column and look forward to reading it. Keep on keeping on !

This was interesting. One thought- the #1 choice right now for 2028 was Pete Buttegieg- I think he is great! However, the next issue is can he win. Does anyone think we are ready yet for a President married to a man? I am hopeful that can happen, just not sure, with so many prejudiced people becoming visible during Trump's presidency. I am also concerned re: the low ranking of both women. We are so far behind the rest of the world in having a female president!

Next survey- please ask about clean air/clean water and protection of public lands...

If men want the party to honor the value of work, why aren't we advocating an increase in the minimum wage? Not doing this makes a lie out of many other points on the platform.

I appreciate your attempt to educate Dem leadership, but the fact is, they're a top-down party filled with greedy takers. Chuck Schumer's priority is helping Israel's genocide against Palestinians; it's certainly not feeding hungry Americans, ending childhood poverty, or ending Citizens United!

I'm a 45yo white woman with a PhD. I've voted Dem since I was 18, and I was a delegate for Obama. Today, I'm a dues-paying DSA member, and I will fight against Dems *aggressively.* They've done NOTHING to make America better. I view establishment Dems as MAGA-light, and I will NEVER vote for them again. I feel like they made a fool out of me and the people who trusted them. They're just takers. Except Elizabeth Warren. I love her!

Democrats have done nothing to make America better? The Affordable Care Act cut the country's uninsured rate in half, and it was only one of several major pieces of legislation that Obama passed. Biden had the American Rescue Plan, which came to about $2 trillion in federal spending to help us recover from the pandemic.

To say that Democrats have done nothing is just factually wrong.

Kid, you're fighting for the wrong party. You must be from a fancy suburb. I'm proud of you for caring, though! Go DSA!

Obama chose to bail out the banks, not homeowners. I *LOVE* Obama. But let's not kid ourselves. Dems are feckless losers who can't fight their way out of a wet sack. We're owed SO MUCH MORE than a washed down bill that barely helps people and has no staying power. Healthcare is still the #1 cause of bankruptcy for average Americans.

I feel like the survey was written to get the answers you wanted. I and others elaborated on questions and answers choices that didn’t cover how we might feel. Did you reflect on this additional information before coming to a conclusion? As we say in lab science, your results are only as good as your sample, or more generally, garbage in, garbage out.

As the world roasts in heat, not one question about the issue of climate change? This should be...and will be... the top topic of national and global concern.

I expected this to annoy me, and it did not. Thanks.

This survey leaves out the big issue of Biden's stance on Israel and continued support for genocide with our tax payor money. If you to not ask the question, people like me who were disgusted with the Democratic leadership for allowing and supporting war crimes and genocide are left with nowhere to express the main issue. When Kamala did not speak up for Palestinian rights of survival, it became "more of the same."
