Happy belated Birthday, Joe. I voted for you in both campaigns. I think that we need more middle of the road, common sense Americans in the political arena such as you.

Bon anniversaire Joe!

I couldn't agree more with Joe on this topic and just ordered the hardcover (BTW if you guys have not already considered doing so I strongly recommend you have Joe record and narrate an audio version of the book and put it on all the audio book platforms because that is where everybody that still reads is now consuming books of all types more, and more every day ~ myself included).

Happy belated birthday Joe! I live in your district or what was your district when you represented us in congress. I am in the minority down here in Bluffton and surrounded by good people who voted for Trump three times. The things you mentioned about Biden are spot on, but they only scratched the surface of why Kamala Harris lost. The truth is Trump was the only one telling it like it is regarding the Democratic Party's being held hostage by the most extreme special interest groups of the far left which prevented Kamala Harris from saying anything that even came close to sounding like the truth on subjects which are considered the holiest of holies by the new theocratic Identity politics high priests who have taken over with a draconian cancel culture and ruthless career ending power that has ruined people's reputations for the high crime of even disagreeing in the most minor way with any of the new left's scripture. Here are the examples that I cited in a recent exchange on Substack after being accused of being a bigot and a racist by one of the new left's true believers when I responded to a comment by a writer from Europe, who asked the question "what happened to your country?" within the context of how we could've elected Trump twice...

Regarding Dr. King‘s message, I believe his meaning is self evident and does not require interpretation. As you mentioned in your response, we do not yet live in a colorblind world but that was indeed his dream. Unfortunately, what has happened in the last 10 years or so is a misappropriation of his message which elevates an individual’s ethnic background or other minority group membership to THE paramount defining characteristic of that person. Additionally, according to the new left’s theocratic dogma being born white has become an unredeemable character flaw which can only be tolerated if a white person swallows hook, line, and sinker every single tenant of the new left’s party line. If you disagree, even in the slightest, you are branded a bigot (as you accused me of being). I agree with you that white people are not the victims of reverse discrimination but white culture is indeed the ONLY ethnic grouping which the new left allows to be condemned and MUST therefore be viewed as the singular source of all evil. And again if you disagree with this, even in the slightest, you are then branded a racist.

My initial post answering the question ‘what happened to America?’ is my honest opinion that the the law of unintended consequences has been clearly demonstrated by the election of Trump. The vast majority of the working class white people who comprise the loyal Maga base were formally Democrats. After decades of declining economic stability and unemployment, they became understandably frustrated and betrayed by the Democratic Party. Trump was the singular voice that spoke directly to their frustration of being ignored, of being left behind, of being branded racists just because they were born white. I live in the ruby red state of South Carolina in a working class neighborhood comprised of police officers, firefighters, teachers, truck drivers, veterans. The vast majority of my neighbors voted for Trump three times (I voted for Hillary, Joe and Kamala). I have known some of them for ten years and can honestly say NONE of them are racist. But I also know from speaking to them that they were indeed sick and tired of being branded racists. They were also sick and tired of their country being bashed as the source of all evil. They are proud people who work hard, struggle to make end meet, and devote all of their energies to raising their families.

I agree that it is indeed a privileged white person’s responsibility to make an effort to improve things for those less fortunate. But I disagree that this should exclude struggling white people. I also take exception that just because a particular culture is NOT white, for example the brutal iron age theocratic dictatorship of Islam in Iran, they should be given a pass. The new left brands brave women who have who have escaped a life of misogyny , rape, genital mutilation , and severely limited educational and professional opportunity in Iran as racist simply because they speak out against Islam. Indeed, the new left’s warriors for social justice in America refuse to condemn what goes on in a country like Iran (the brutal slaughter of innocent protesters on an industrial scale, the murder of homosexuals, the subjugation of women, the genital mutilation of young girls).

In conclusion, your knee jerk reaction of branding me a Klan member, a bigot is a perfect example of why Trump was elected. We are living through a very difficult period in American history because of the new left’s perversion of Martin Luther King‘s words. The law of unintended consequences, like gravity, should always be respected.
